Hello and Welcome to - A Wage Slave's Journey to Life.
What is that all about? Well..
The reason for this blog is to
provide a platform to share my experiences as one of the millions who
find themselves in a similar situation as myself, of trying to survive in
a low wage job in the service industry, which is becoming the most
prevalent job there is, here in the United States. This is not going to be a ranting and raving type blog, complaining about the current
situation, or rebelling against the current system, but that it is going to be geared towards solutions, through taking self
responsibility for the situation we have created here as our system
and what we have allowed our labor and living to become limited to.
This is because what I have realized is
that our system has essentially become something that is happening to
us, rather than something we directly participate in and direct
according to what actually works for everyone. We've let things run
amok in the hands of those who cared more for profit than actual
quality of life.
For so many of us, in fact, the vast
majority of us, we spend our lives as 'victims' to the system, just
accepting that there is apparently 'nothing we can do' and it is just
'too big', or that it's not something that interests us or that we
really have time for anyway, since we're so busy working to survive
and getting burnt out.
But it doesn't have to be like that,
and we know it. We also know that if we don't do anything, and just
accept things as they are, nothing is going to change for the better,
but likely for the worse. So our only worthwhile option is to do what
we can with what we have, which is whatever time and resources we
have, to get back our power within the system, so that we can direct
things effectively so that we can all have a good life.
Within this, the first and primary step
to change in the world is to change oneself, therefore this is the
process that I'll be walking in this blog, taking the everyday
experiences we face in our current reality, and changing my
relationship of 'victim-hood' to the system, into one of self
responsibility, where the focus is on solutions that can lead to
actual change.
Though I would prefer to be accountable
and visible in all that I do, I'm writing this blog anonymously so
that I can talk freely about my job experience, without risking
potentially losing my job, because unfortunately that is that kind of
situation we have today where your job is your survival and it's not
guaranteed and you therefore have to do whatever necessary to ensure
your survival, which is certainly a topic with many dimensions to it,
that will be unraveled in posts to come.
This blog is also an invitation for
anyone to participate and comment and share you own experiences that
relate, to assist and support us all together to take responsibility,
take back our power, and change our world and our lives.
